COVID-19 Safety Protocols

We, at Complete Health Dentistry Of Portland, are dedicated to the safety of our patients and staff. We have taken certain infection control measures to make your visits to our office as safe as possible.

We strictly follow the guidelines provided by the ADA, CDC, and OSHA as part of the infection control procedures. We stay up-to-date on any new guidance provided by these agencies.

Is it safe to see the dentist now?

With all that is happening in the world, it is more important than ever to pay attention to your health.  An important part of this prevention is making sure your mouth is in good order.

As the gateway to the rest of your body, healthcare providers and the World Health Organization all say that oral health is a critical component to a long healthspan (not just a long life, but one filled with doing what you love).  We understand that you want to take care of yourself in the safest way possible.  Here is a short interview with Dr. Dowsett and Portland internist Dr. Heather Baskin of the Baskin Clinic (weblink?  http://baskinclinic.com/) discussing what you should ask and expect at your next wellness visit to the dentist.

Being interviewed by internist Dr. Heather Baskin, M.D. of The Baskin Clinic.

Have a look at the changes we are still implementing in our office to help protect our patients and staff:

 Hand Sanitizing Station
When you enter the office at the front desk and you can find some in each operatory room and other places in the office which you can use according to the necessity.

1.5% Peroxide Anti-Microbial Rinse
When aerosols are being created we will have you use an oral pre-rinse of 1.5% peroxide for about 30 seconds.

N95 & ASTM Level 3 Masks
Our  back office team will keep their lovely smiles protected behind double-masking  or N95 during an aerosol producing procedure.

 Protective Gowns
When appropriate, our team will also utilize another layer of protection, protective gowns which can help in minimizing the spread or absorption of airborne particles.

HEPA Air Filtration
We have equipped each of our operatory rooms with a High level 4 stage HEPA filter, UV-C light air purifiers, which can kill bacteria, mold, and viruses and make the air clean.

Advanced Aerosol Reduction Tools
We have also utilized special equipment like Rubberdam,  and HVE system, which can limit aerosols.

Sterilizing
Our sterilization practices have always been and remain at the highest standards.  All necessary instruments are pre-cleaned and then sterilized with Midmark M11 or M9 UltraClave steam autoclaves.  Each machine is spore tested weekly at OHSU in compliance with state requirements.

Cleaning After Every Appointment
In each operatory, after every patient, we thoroughly wipe, sanitize, and disinfect all instruments, equipment, and surfaces to make everything super clean.

Advanced Staff Training
We have trained our team members regarding additional awareness and prevention programs to enhance their knowledge and keep them more prepared.

We look forward to seeing you again and happily answer any questions you may have in your mind regarding the steps we have taken to make your visit a safe and secure one. To make an appointment, please call our office at (503) 253-1262.

Sincerely,
Dr. Dowsett and the staff
